The Trinity:

We believe in one God who eternally exists in three distinct persons: The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit bound together in one unity. Because God himself is in relationship, each of us has a great need to be in relationship with God and each other. Gen 1:1; Ex 3:14; Deut 6:4; John 8:58; 1 Tim 1:17; Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14

Jesus is both 100% man and 100% God. He was born of the Virgin Mary. He was tempted in every way, yet remained sinless. He died on a cross, rose on the third day, and ascended to Heaven where he reigns today in order that we may have life and be freed from the death brought by sin. Because Jesus humbled himself and came to earth, we have a perfect model on how to live a godly life. Acts 17:3; Heb 2:16-17; Matt. 1:23; Acts 1:3; Heb 4:14-16; Acts 1:9-11

The Holy Spirit:

He is an active being in the lives of all believers. He is the guide, comforter and counselor for each of our lives. He “writes” God’s word on our hearts, and guides us to practice God’s word in our everyday lives. Jn 14:16-17,26; 16:7-13; 2 Cor 3:3

We believe that the each person was made in the image of God, and in turn is the crowning jewel of God’s creation (Gen 1:26-27).

We believe that the creation of the world was no mere accident or at best, crazy coincidences, but instead was from the power and plan of God himself. (Gen 1-2).

Our Sinfulness /God’s Grace:

Each one of us was created in the image of God, but through sin we have incurred separation from God, which produced physical and spiritual death. However, God did not give up on us, and through His grace He calls the spiritually dead back to relationship with Himself. Jn 3:16 Rom 3:10-18, 23; 3:24; 6:23.

Free Will:

We believe that, as persons of free choice, each one of us can either accept or reject God. In giving us freedom of choice, God has expressed the true nature of His love, not coercion, about an open invitation to accept God’s way. Deut. 30:19-20; Romans 2:4; James 4:4.

We believe that Jesus died for our sins, as the Bible states, and all of us that authentically repent of our sins will be justified (made right) on the ground of Jesus’ sacrifice. At this moment we are reconnected in relationship to God Himself. Rom 5:6-9; Hebrews 7:26,27; 9:26; 10:12.

The Bible:

Beginning to end is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. This allows us to see the Bible as the perfect guide and barometer for our everyday lives. 2 Tim 3:15-17, 2 Pet 1:19-21

The Church:

Life is filled with ups and downs, pains and joys. We need each other. Jesus desires us to be in community to learn about each other, ourselves and him. We believe the YVCC is for all peoples and backgrounds. People who love Jesus with all that they are, people who are just following Jesus, and those that are trying to figure out if God is real or not. Ultimately the church is a A Diverse, Spirit-filled, Grace-fueled, Jesus focused and founded Community; marked by Transformation. (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:25; Ephesians 5:22-6:1)

Life to the Full (Sanctification):

We believe it is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit, being separated from sin and fully devoted to the will of God. Thereby receiving power for holy living and fully effective service. Mt. 22:36-40; Rom 6:1,2, 11-14; Col 1:9-14; 1 Thess 5:23-24; 1 Pet 1:22

We believe that Jesus will return to earth in fulfillment of the Biblical prophecies, leading to eternal life for those who have accepted God’s offer of salvation in Jesus, and eternal punishment and death for those who have rejected it. Mt. 25:41; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thes 4:15-18; Titus 2:11-13; Rev 20:11-15; 21:6-8
